Another week or two goes by and no-one has reported the NDP Lingenfelter phoney membership scandal to the RCMP. In fact the NDP, after conducting an in house investigation by one of their one, The Hale Report, says they won't refer the matter to the police. In giving Lingenfelter their "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval"
the NDP say it was all the work of one over zealous campaign worker and its over with. No harm, no foul. The worker now can not be found. Most likely he is
recovering from exhaustion. This one incredible, over zealous worker managed to sign up 1100 members without even contacting them, take in over $10,000 in cash,
small unmarked bills I presume, and get all the paper work done without anyone noticing it. This guy should be sending out resumes. Workers like that are hard to find.
But it got me thinking. Is there a "Best Before Date" on all of this. Could it be
that the NDP sits quietly, waiting for six months, waiting for say a Statue of
Limitations to expire so the whole thing just goes away? No harm, no foul.
A spokesman for the Regina RCMP, Staff Sergeant Richard Roy, says anyone can report a crime. However before police can take action they do require some-one to provide evidence that a crime was committed.
Lets see - that would only leave four possibilities. The NDP who say they won't,
the Lingenfelter campaign team who say they have been cleared (The Hale Report), the overzealous campaign worker who can't be found or one of the 1100 people who had their names forged on these membership documents. Doesn't look good does it?
Lets see what was that "Best Before Date" again ?
