The only real certainty surrounding this weekends visit of the Hamilton Tiger Cats to Saskatchewan is which, or how many perhaps, Rider quarterbacks will be on the menu.
Without doubt Darian Durant will start. From that point on the questions begin? How long will he stay in? Will coach Ken Miller go back to his rotating quarterback scheme. It worked against Calgary. Not so much against BC.
Stephen Jyles got his opportunity to come into the game when Durant sputtered and stalled and really didn't get much done.
This week we have heard that Durant's confidence is beginning to suffer. Not being able to know how long you are going to stay in the game and how many chances you are going to get has to be tough on the confidence. On the other hand not moving the ball and suffering defeat and then facing the wrath of the Rider nation can't be a picnic either.
As long as I can remember, and thats many years, Rider fans expect much from their quarterbacks. Rookie quarterbacks don't get much of a chance here and well a few veterans have been constant targets of the boo birds as well.
What is it now? Three Grey Cups in the entire history of the RoughRiders? Maybe thats part of the problem. Needed a quarterback who will instantly deliver a winner and get a dynasty going. Don't hold your breath.
In the meantime Darian starts, kind of like an appetizer, Jyles waits hoping he can be both the main course and the dessert and the Rider Nation continues to grumble.
