Maple Leaf

I just read in the newspaper this morning that Maple Leaf has recalled thousands of
weiners. What will Toronto do without an NHL team and I wonder if that will include the Ottawa Senators too. Both the team and those old Senators on the hill that sit around and do nothing all day but count their pay cheque.

How cold is it in Saskatchewan ?

Well pretty cold as this couple and their dog found out walking through the University of
Saskatchewan grounds. I suppose they could have stomped out an SOS in the snow but
would have the RCMP noticed anyway.

Hold Your Nose

So Barock Obama is going to charge rich Americans a 20% tax and give that money to the poor.
And here you thought Robin Hood just ran around the forests of merry old England.
Hang on wealthy Americans. You are about to find out why this guys initials are BO

Lest We Forget

After listening to various radio talk shows today what seems to be lost in the shuffle of
the horrendous foster childrens story is the fact that the present Saskatchewan government is
left to clean up the mess of a previous administration.
Lest we forget, this province had sixteen years of NDP government and the weaknesses of the foster childrens program currently under scrutiny by the media occured on that NDP's governments watch and under their hand.
Just in case no-one has noticed that fact.
Having said that, lets get this fixed as this is an embarassment to the entire province.

Sask Government announces new WIN WIN WIN program

Citing unprecented success with the governments needle redistribution program, the Saskatchewan government today announced a program to combat alcoholism.
Effective immediately, registered alcoholics will be allowed to exchange empties for full only at Saskatchewan run liquor board stores.
The government calls this a WIN WIN WIN program citing three immediate benefits.
1) Alcoholics will get the help that they need
2) The high hourly rate paid to liquor board employees will be lowered to more properly reflect wages in the private sector. To compensate for the lower wages liquor board employees will be allowed to return empties to the nearest Sarcan outlet resulting in the third benefit.
3) Increased work and the possible hiring of more staff at Sarcan. The government also noted that liquor board employees negatively effected by the change will have first option of applying at Sarcan

Room for Improvement

The Saskatchewan government made the earth shattering announcement yesterday that there is room for improvement in the governments needle distribution program.   Room for improvement ?   Now that is the understatement of the day.   Ten per cent of these needles are not being returned.  If one innocent child is contaminated by these unreturned needles, then yes, Mr. Minister, I would say there is room for Improvement.
Why do the misguided do gooders insist on aiding and a betting addicts and junkies.  Would you
offer an alcoholic a bottle of whine to cure his drinking addiction ?
And why is it the fire department that has to go out and pick these things up with four or five men and two big yellow trucks.  Could not city maintenance crews be trained with one man and one
small truck to pick up and discard old needles.  It's not exactly rocket science is it ?

Noticed for all the wrong reasons

Someone once said any publicity is good publicity.  Drove into Regina tonight, picked up the local newspaper and I can't say I agree.
Front page in full and glorious color
Tillman - accused of something that involved a sixteen year old girl
Ahenakew - not guilty of promoting hatred but guilty of verbal diareha
Dagenais - accused of killing two Mounties
YIKES
It seems the only time the nationals (ie CBC & CTV) notice Saskatchewan is when it is bad or
negative.
Now I know every province has their dirty laundry but it seems for every step we take forward we take two backward

Saskatchewan Liberal Party

So the Saskatchewan Liberal Party has elected a new Leader.  First of all, I wonder if any one
really cares but I did listen to the new leader, Ryan Bater on the Murray Woods Show today.
Apparently they are going to begin by privatizing things including the liquor board.
Bater stated the Liberals are going to be principled and stick to those principles no matter what the cost.  Well now thats interesting.  The Saskatchewan Liberal Party holds zero seats so just what could the cost possibly be.
Interesting to note that three previous Liberal MLA's took their principles and sold them to the NDP a few years ago and despite the best efforts of David Karwacki, the Liberals have never been able to recover a seat.
This is the party that kind of eats their own.  The party was making great strides with Linda
Haverstock but then sent her packing when the "Ol Boys Club" just couldn't stand having a woman with so much power.
I think privatizing the liquor stores in Saskatchewan is a great idea.  Privatize a couple of others too such as Sask Tel who dabble in the publication business and home security and other things all the time supported by tax payer money.  Funny how some taxpayers end up having to compete against Sask Tel and their unlimited advertising budget.
Point is - it really doesn't matter what Ryan Bater and the Saskatchewan Liberals promise to
do with privatization or anything else.  They are simply not a player and they know it
The only question is - Is this a good strategy to get some press and air time.  Probably - at least it worked for today

Ok I'm a political junkie. Provincial, federal, world - I follow it all. Also enjoy talk radio

Kind of said most of it above. I do love to travel though. Would love to visit every major city out there. Enjoy learning the culture of other countries. I'm a people watcher and a people person. Some say I love to talk and I guess that would be accurate
