For the second week in a row, the Saskatchewan RoughRiders have messed me up on a perfect prediction weekend. Last weekend I foolishly predicted that the Edmonton Eskimos would defeat the Riders. The result: Saskatchewan 23 Edmonton 20
This week I went with the Riders to defeat British Columbia Lions. The result:
A concussed Buck Pierce played like he thought he was in the NFL as the Lions downed the Riders 19 - 16. Kind of sad that a quarterback who's brains have been scrambled and was on his back more often that a saturday night hooker, could beat the Riders with two supposedly healthy quarterbacks. Well one anyway. We don't use our backup quarterback in Saskatchewan no matter the cicumstances.
For the second game in a row Darian Durant was totally ineffective but this time the defense couldn't save him and pull out the two points.
In the other games that I got right. Winnipeg pulled the upset and beat Edmonton
27 - 17, Montreal beat the sad sack Toronto Argonauts 27 - 8 and Calgary edged
Hsmilton 15 - 14. Talk about a game Hamilton could have and should have won.
Again the quarterback thing. Why wouldn't Marcel Bellefeuille put in an experienced Kevin Glenn for the last three minutes when all the Cats needed to win was a
field goal. Instead rookie Clinton Porter hangs on to a ball he could have thrown away and gets sacked and loses fifteen yards. No field goal anymore.
So now Calgary sits on top at 8 - 5. Saskatchewan 7 - 6 and British Columbia and Edmonton at 6 - 7
Next week Saskatchewan hosts Toronto. If Durant manages to lose that one the Riders better be looking elsewhere for a qb.
